Project Engineer - Telecoms required for a 6 months' contract with our client who are telecommunications infrastructure company who have developed over the past few years as a result of the Government's investment in improved broadband.

In this role, you will be reporting in to the Technical Director and will be working on 2 or 3 projects at any one time. To be successful, you will need to be experienced in the installation of fibre optic in to a road or rail infrastructure environment. Have assisted previously with planning fibre routes and undertaking physical surveys. Have a good understanding of Health and Safety on site.

As this is very much a site based position working as part of a team, you will also be interacting with suppliers and sub-contractors who are already in place.

The position will be based in Hertfordshire and is working on a new contract to install Fibre Optic Broadband across a large and developing large Business Park.

Experience and Personal Qualities
The successful candidate will:

-Have at least 5 years' experience as a PE managing fibre installations on roads and rail, including the supervision of civils.
-Undertake site surveys and site visits to monitor sub-contractor progress.
-Have a good understanding of the Health and Safety (H&S) requirements of the projects. A H&S qualification would be an advantage, but not essential.
-Have good IT skills.
-An understanding of the BT Openreach infrastructure and BT processes for the use of PIA would be a distinct advantage.
-Be a self-started, with the ability to define their own workload and priorities and work alone and unsupervised.
-Have the flexibility of mind, and good humour, to undertake a range of project tasks to support a small, but growing, company.

Location and Hours

-Hertfordshire area, with the flexibility to work from home on occasions.Be prepared to travel nationally to visit customers, sub-contractors and project sites as required.
-Flexibility to vary hours to balance the requirements of the project portfolio at any time.
